Chris Frye

Graduate Student Fellow

Chris Frye is a Graduate Student Fellow at the Housing Venture Lab focusing on ventures that are advancing innovative models in construction, climate, and technology. Chris is pursuing his Master of Real Estate Development + Design at UC Berkeley, with a strong interest in affordable housing, adaptive reuse, and small-scale development. Most recently, Chris was the community development director at Opportunity Alabama (OPAL), where he helped launch their community development accelerator programs and built a statewide portfolio of impact-oriented real estate deals. His first housing job was as an AmeriCorps Member with Habitat for Humanity, where he worked with volunteers to build new affordable homes across the City of New Orleans. Chris holds a BS in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park. A native of the greater Baltimore region, he lives in Berkeley with his wife, an urban designer.
